Emmanuel Carlier is a French video artist, based between Paris and Barcelona. Through his video installations, he places images but also the devices that allow it to be written and question the relationship between image and time. In 1992 he developed a video process entitled «Temps Mort», hybridization between cinema and photography, which allows to evolve in space without evolving in time. This process has been taken many times as a cinematic effect («Matrix», of Lana and Lilly Wachowski). Since 1995 his video installations have been exhibited in France and abroad (Kwangju Biennial, CCBB Rio de Janeiro Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art, Art Biennial of Lyon, Montreal Biennial, Grand Palais, La Villette, Montreal City of Arts…). Emmanuel Carlier also collaborates with the Catalan company La Fura dels Baus through various operas and plays in France and abroad (Lyon Opera, Lille Opera, Opéra Garnier, Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, Oper Frankfurt Berlin, Teatro Municipal Sao Paulo, Lincoln Center New York…).
